a new room for the big boy

Luke has always been downstairs with us. Ever since he was little and we were living in our old 3 bedroom house, he was literally steps from our bedroom. When we moved to where we are now, the master bedroom was downstairs as well as one extra room and then there are 3 bedrooms upstairs. Well, we just put Luke downstairs with us. And he was still literally STEPS away from our bedroom. But now, with baby boy number 2 coming sooner than later, we decided that both boys needed to be together........upstairs.

I was so nervous about this. I don't know. I guess I had all those silly mommy fears. What if someone comes in the middle of the night and takes him and we don't know because we didn't hear it?? Or what if there is a fire and neither one of us can get up to either boy fast enough?? Or what if he gets up in the middle of the night and falls all the way down the stairs and we don't hear him???? (which is so unreal right now because he is still in his crib....but don't worry, my mind still thought he would climb out of it and this would happen!) (and don't worry grandmas....we have gates!)

But, it was time. We needed to set up the nursery, and we didn't want to wait until Peanut got here and then move Luke up. Making him think he was being shipped up and out.......

soooo......we moved him. The weekend of Valentine's Day. and what do you know??????

The kid loves it.

He takes everyone on a tour of the whole house when they come over. This is "guke's" room, this is "baby's" room, and then this is "choo choo" room. Because, oh yeah, did I mention we were using our dining room as a play room so that we could all still be on one level of the house?? Yep, but not now! Luke's old room is now the play room. And I am loving being able to shut the door to it now and keeping the mess a secret.....well, until Luke shows everyone.

I thought I'd share some pictures of Luke's new room that is he oh so very proud of...and yes, he is showing me everything.....

These are his choo choo wall stickers......

"and if you follow me over here mom....."

These are his "car car" wall stickers in his book corner....

And of course he had to show me all his books....

Then he ran away and did a little jump off his very cool 2 stairs that lead down into his room....

And don't forget the airplane rocker....

Or the closet.....

Then, it was time to head down to the "choo choo" room....

ahhh....a nice room for all the toys!
So, he loves it. All of it. And that is great because it has made me feel better about him being up there. All alone. :(
*************************
Of course now that he is using the potty (oh yes....he is doing it like a champ!) he only wants to use the UPSTAIRS potty.....which makes it very interesting for a big 7 month pregnant mama like me to haul it up 16 stairs and back down 16 stairs several, several, several times a day. But hey, it's worth it...the kid is using the potty! What's a few more braxton hicks contractions right?
Speaking of potty training. He is doing so well. He is even going in public now. I took him to the grocery the next day after he started, and before we had even put one grocery in the cart he said, "I PEE PEE I PEE PEE!!!!!!" So I literally took off through the store (isn't that a sight for the eyes! HA!) swerving in and out of aisles to get this kid to the potty. Of course I had no idea how I was going to get him to sit on those huge toilets, well, huge for his little bottom! But he marched right in there, sat down, and WENT! Oh my word, people probably thought I was crazy because I was just yelling and hooting and hollering because he did it, but he was beaming from ear to ear. Then after all was done, we pulled up his pants and the kid stuck his whole arm........whole arm......into the toilet. yep. Right down into the toilet water it went. That was fun.
After all was said and done, that little trip to the potty added about another 20-25 minutes or so to our grocery trip. But he did it. And he is continuing to do it. He is so proud of himself......and so are we.

HE DID IT!!!

Luke did it! He went peepee on the potty tonight for the very first time!! THREE TIMES!! (and once was even on cue for grandma and grandpa while they were on the phone!)

He was getting ready to get in his bath, and was standing up and looked up at a daddy and said, "I peepee I peepee" so Daddy asked him if he needed to go pee and he said "yeah" so we sat him on the potty....and he DID IT!! He was so proud of himself. It was so neat to see him accomplish this big step in toddlerhood.

We also called all the grandparents and aunts and uncles to tell them the big news too. They were all so excited for him, and he felt so proud that they were excited for him. Now....on to day 2!!

good thing we have no idea what the heck we are doing! HA!

sweet, sweet innocence

This morning we ventured out to Walmart. (my most favorite place....can you sense the sarcasm in my voice?!?!). We needed a few things to get our ever-growing-list-of-things-that-need-to-be-done-before-baby-gets-here list done. So, we were standing in the aisle with all the file folders and Luke was happily playing with a squirt bottle we gave him to make him stop yelling "MOMMY!! DADA!!"all through the store. When all of a sudden this man that was, er, I mean looked like Santa Claus came down our aisle.

Out of no where, Luke looked up from his purple squirt bottle and said, "uuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhh!!! TANTA!!!!!!!!!!!" Oh my gosh, I started laughing so hard I cried. I don't think that man heard him, but as he walked away I looked at the back of his jacket. And on it he had a huge picture of Santa on it with the words, "I believe" written on the top. Guess, he likes to look like the big man himself.

Of course I used that opportunity to remind Luke that Santa is always watching.......

The peanut is definetly a peanut....

It's been a while since I have updated all you all on our little peanut. (If you have missed anything you can check out my pregnancy blog...which may be a little boring to some of you...about what has been going on throughout the pregnancy). But I thought today would be a good day to share some info on him.

We had an ultrasound done this morning because I have been measuring a month behind than what I really am. (as in, Wednesday I measured 24 weeks, when I am really very close to 28 weeks along) and it has been like that the past couple of appointments. So, my doctor said she would do an ultrasound to see how this little man is progressing. Which, of course, was fine by us because even if he was totally fine, who wouldn't want to see that sweet little face again???

Well, turns out he is totally great! Everything about him measured right on for 28 weeks and they said he weighs about 2lbs 10oz! Which is hard to believe there is almost a 3lb baby all curled up inside there. We also got some more video of him...and he put on quite a show for us by getting the hiccups (which he gets quite often I might add) so we could see his sweet little belly go in and out, in and out. Everything else looked good too....good amount of amniotic fluid and the placenta looked fine. He is just apparently a little peanut....
We were hoping after we saw his face a little more clearly today on the ultrasound that we could finally narrow down a name for him. But....the little stinker wouldn't show us a good view of his face in 3D. So for now....we are still undecided. But have narrowed it down to two. Aren't you all dying to know what they are?? heehee..... We'll let ya know soon.
Anyway. Here are some new pics of our little man (which of course you know Brandon had have the tech double and triple check to make sure he is in fact our little "man")....ENJOY! We sure
have!
His little foot. And bonus, looks like he didn't get my feet!! Which trust me, no one wants. My whole mom's side has the ugliest feet you probably have ever seen. Brandon calls them my "finger toes" and well...I'll just leave it at that description.... and yep. Luke got them too. But so far so good for peanut!

And then a couple of shots of his profile. We didn't get any of his profile at his 20 week scan because he was moving like crazy in there. So I am loving these.....

T-8-11 weeks till we meet this little man!!!! oh my gosh I'm getting so excited I can barely take it. You all are going to have to fight me and Brandon (and probably Luke too) to hold him because we are NEVER putting him down this time around! Just kidding.....But seriously......no, I'm kidding. I guess I will share him because I will still want to hold my first baby too.....

Happy Valentine's Day

Luke had these stickers that Daddy got for mommy and so he decided since they look like lips...they should go ON the lips! what a little mind he has....

I'm going to brag a little on this next section. :) Brandon came home early on Friday and brought me these! are they not gorgeous?? But what was even better than the flowers was what he had planned. On each rose there was a note that would say something like, "Honey, tonight I want to curl up with you and watch a movie," or "Honey, tonight I want to sit and have a cup of coffee with you and just talk" and so on with various ideas on how to spend our evening. BUT the icing on the cake???? He set it up so that his parents were going to watch Luke all Friday evening, till Saturday morning!! We had the whole night to do whatever we wanted, whenever we wanted. And it was so nice....We went to dinner at Olive Garden (I was craving fettucini...heehee), walked Target to see if we could find some stuff for this baby, then went over to Barnes N Noble and had some coffee and read over 100,000 baby names to see if we could come up with something for this new peanut (which we didn't make much progress...) and then had dessert over at Coachman. Then went home and got to sleep in the whole next morning! Oh my...it was so nice and relaxing. Thank you Brandon for setting that up! Hopefully we won't have to wait a whole year to do that again.....I had so much fun with you!

Hope everyone else had a great Valentine's Day spending it with the people you love the most!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

On Feb. 10, Brandon turned 29! We had dinner (which Brandon picked) that consisted of meatloaf, scalloped potatoes, green beans, rolls, salad, and of course cake and ice cream. Luke did a fantastic job picking out the colors, sprinkles, and candles for his cake don't ya think?

Hope you had a fantastic birthday honey! You are an amazing father, but an even amazing husband. I love you!

Blowing out the candles (which Luke had to do 3 times....)

Taking a picture with Grandma and Grandpa. They came over to have dinner and cake with us. Thanks for coming over and especially for bringing that home video over too. It was too cute!

and a group shot. Luke is so silly.....

more pictures soon...promise!

I was in the process of uploading pictures to my computer and my camera died. So, I am waiting for my batteries to charge so I can dump my pictures. So, another random post will have to suffice again today.

I just want to say to all of you that left me such encouraging comments to my last rambling post......thank you. You really don't know how much reading those words made me feel better about life. And I am proud to say, that I haven't felt as guilty since writing that post either. I mean, I still have my moments, but nothing like what I was feeling at the exact moment that post was written.

Now, I am just feeling exhausted. I don't know if because it's been kind of a busy week, or if this pregnancy is really starting to catch up with me now. I guess it must be the 3rd trimester tiredness coming through. I get tired so much quicker...and find it harder to breath at times. Guess that just means this little peanut is growing! Which is what we want of course. So he can come out. And come out sooner than later I hope. I can't wait to see him and hold him....and well...I just can't wait for everything that is to come.

*********************
Luke is doing well. He is saying soooooooooo many more words this past week or so! It's crazy. It's like a light just went off and he is more eager to repeat more words you say to him. We are loving it. He is expanding his vocabulary and his sentences are getting longer. And we are pretty sure he has some favorite colors....blue and green. Everything he sees that is that color he has to tell us and then always requests those colors when we ask him which cup he wants for his drink.
Overall, life is good over here at our house. And we are just enjoying every minute together. We are almost done with the babies room, and are getting ready to work on Luke's new room this weekend. Life is good.

Sneak Preview

We've been working on the baby's room this past weekend! I'm getting so excited now. It feels like something is finally coming together for this little peanut. Poor little guy hasn't had near as much attention as Luke did when I was pregnant with him. I guess chasing after a wild man 2 year old really does take away from him. Sorry peanut!

Luke was such a big helper for Daddy. He got his own "too" out and helped daddy put the crib together. And I really think he thinks he did it all on his own. He just acts so proud about "baby" and his crib.

So here are a few pictures of what we did this weekend. On top of that, we also painted a little in there too. Stay tuned for more pictures to come of the nursery.

And thanks Luke for all your help. I don't think Daddy could have done it without you. really.

A boy and his "boo"

Luke LOVES his cowboy boots grandma and grandpa! He wears them all the time. We had asked him to go get his slippers so his feet wouldn't get cold at dinner, and this is what he came back wearing. He even wore them to my doctors appointment on Tuesday where he got lots of compliments from the doctors! He loved it!

Laughing at me because I was laughing so hard at him I couldn't stop! This kid is quite the character these days.
